Sprint Canoe and Kayak

The Sprint Program covers canoe/kayak technique, general physical fitness, water safety, the principals of competition and team building for training and racing. 

PROGRAMS

Juniors - This program is designed for athletes 18-years-old and younger and runs year round.  During the racing season, junior athletes participate in four after school and one weekend training session.  In the off season, juniors participate in two after school and one weekend training session which consists primarily of land-based training.  The aim of this program is teach water safety, balance in sprint boats, proper canoe/kayak technique and how to paddle in team boats with the ultimate goal of competing in both local and national races. 

Elite – This program is designed for athletes who have a goal of competing in the Junior World Championships, World Championships, Pan-Americans Games, Pan-American Championships, and eventually the Olympic Games. These athletes are working to improve their strength, endurance and speed.  This program includes both coached and non-coached training sessions.

Masters – This program is designed for paddlers of all skill levels who are, generally speaking, 30 years old and over and is a coached program. Masters athletes are committed to training and racing as a team.  These athletes compete at a variety of local, national and international races.
