Frank Havens 10K 2010

30 October 2010

The Annual Frank Havens 10K Canoe Challenge will be held on October 30. The 10K course will be kicked off by a mass start from WCC to mile rock and back thrice, with the last loop ending at WCC after a turn at Key Bridge. Classes include: Men/Women, Open/Masters, Long/Short boat. Registration fee $20, covers lunch. Dress up in your Halloween costume!

In addition, we are introducing a new mini-event: the Generation Gap race. This will be held after the 10K race and is designed for WCC family members or friends with at least an 18-year gap between the two paddlers. The shorter course will start again from WCC (mass start), turn at 1km mark, turn at Key Bridge and end at WCC. We highly encourage WCC parent-child tandems to join us for this fun event! Race rules are as follows:

  1. There will be two subclasses, dictated by the age of the youngest paddler on race day: 14 and below, and 15 and above
  2. The age difference between the two paddlers should be at least 18 on race day
  3. Registration fee is $10 per paddler which covers lunch. Free if paddler is already doing the 10K course.

Standard canoes only (no proboats!)! WCC has a slew of canoes to choose from so fret not if you don't own one! Just shoot an email to Jim Ross [ frailey.ross -at- gmail.com ] to reserve one!
